Frequently Asked Questions
What is the Speakers' Bureau?
From keynote speakers to workshop leaders, district-wide presentations to site-based training, or even a train-the-trainer session for your professional development staff, the most highly-respected authors writing for educators are available to present at your next event.
Corwin Press speakers customize their presentation to meet your specific objectives and audience. We check for their availability and offer discounts on the presenter’s books for your event. In other words, we do the upfront work, so you won’t have to! The Corwin Press Speakers' Bureau works as your point of contact in order to save time and money.
How do I book a presenter?
Call Tozi Rubin at (805) 410-7210 Monday through Friday, 9-5pm, Pacific Standard Time or email SpeakersBureau@CorwinPress.com. Tozi will work with you to connect you to the Sales Managers
who will evaluate your needs and the event, and let you know as soon as possible, if the author you have requested is available.
How early should I book?
Usually, you should book 6-18 months in advance. The earlier the better; our authors' calendars fill very quickly.
How much does it cost?
All speaking fees and expense are negotiated between you and the Corwin Press presenter. Once finalized, your Corwin Press Sales Manager will send you a book quote based on the number of books you plan to purchase. Discounts are available for bulk quantities!
What are the customer expectations?
Once you and the author confirm the date of the event, the Sales Manager will work with you to find the most appropriate books and product for your event. To save a date requires a signed contract with the author. You and the Corwin Press author will agree on the topic, date, compensation and location.
You will agree to do the following:
- Purchase Corwin Press products from the Sales Manager for the event
- Provide the number of participants that you estimated
- Hold the presentation on the date agreed upon with the author. Typically, a signed contract worked out between you and the author is a confirmation.
- Use a "learning friendly" venue. This means having refreshments for the participants in the morning and afternoon. It means a large, well-lit room. It means you'll have the workbooks ready and the catering set.
- Be willing to provide a sound system (CD/AV player if needed) and good seating for the learners.
What if the author is not available?
If the author cannot do the work you request, the Corwin Press Sales Manager will recommend one who is certified, and well-trained in the topic of interest. We ask that you give a second and third choice for presenters, in the event that your first choice of speakers is unavailable.
Do I get a special discount on books, if I acquire a presenter?
Yes, you may quality for a special discount on the books you purchase after acquiring one of our presenters.
