About the Speaker
Jackie Acree Walsh, Ph.D Jackie specializes in the design and delivery of research-based professional development. A long-time student of effective classroom questioning, she co-authored "Quality Questioning: Research-Based Strategies to Engage All Learners" (2005, Corwin Press), co-developed "Questioning and Understanding to Improve Learning and Thinking" (QUILT), and co-presented "Questioning to Stimulate Thinking" (1999) for the Video Journal in Education series. Additionally, she co-authored "Inside School Improvement: Creating High-Performing Learning Communities" (2001) and "Creating High-Performance Learning Cultures" (2003), a training module produced who assist priority schools in achieving AYP. Walsh has also served as faculty for NSDC's Academy; published numerous articles; and presented dozens of sessions at national conferences. Her professional experience includes work in K-12 schools, the Alabama Department of Education, Georgia State University, at AEL as an R&D Specialist, and as an independent consultant to schools, districts, and state departments of education across the country. She received a B.A. from Duke University, M.A.T. from the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, and Ph.D from the University of Alabama.
